Senior Cyber Security Engineer - Liverpool

Are you a seasoned cyber security professional looking for an exciting opportunity in the fintech sector? Our client, a well-established fintech firm in Liverpool, is seeking a Senior Cyber Security Engineer to join their dynamic team.

The Role

As a Senior Cyber Security Engineer, you will:

• Lead technical cyber security initiatives within the Security Operations team.

• Implement robust security controls and best practices.

• Provide specialist security support to IT teams, including infrastructure, development, and database teams.

• Work with stakeholders to maintain compliance with industry standards (ISO27001, Cyber Essentials Plus, PCI/DSS).

• Stay ahead of cyber threats, maintaining and improving security monitoring and risk management processes.

• Support vulnerability management, penetration testing, and incident response.

Requirements

• 3+ years' experience in a senior cyber security role.

• Strong knowledge of security frameworks (NIST, NCSC, CIS, MITRE ATT&CK).

• Hands-on experience with security tools: SIEM, IDS/IPS, firewalls, endpoint protection.

• Expertise in Azure security and securing cloud platforms.

• Solid understanding of vulnerabilities, penetration testing, and compliance.

• Experience with network security, encryption, TLS, SSL, and security monitoring tools.

• Right to work in the UK (British Citizen, ILR status or Settled status).

Desirable Skills

• Previous experience in a regulated industry (financial services, insurance).

• Certifications such as Azure Security, CCNA, CCNP, CISSP, CEH.

• Experience securing Linux, Mac, containerised applications (e.g., Kubernetes).

• Familiarity with Zero Trust, ITIL, and security governance frameworks.
