About the Role:
We are seeking an experienced Senior Business Analyst with a strong background in financial modeling and advanced Excel skills to join our dynamic team in the banking sector. As a Senior Business Analyst, you will be responsible for driving business insights, analyzing complex financial data, and providing strategic recommendations to help shape key business decisions. This role demands expertise in financial and cost modeling, Excel, and a deep understanding of the banking environment.
Key Responsibilities:
Financial & Cost Modeling & Analysis:
- Design, build, and maintain complex financial models and cost models to support strategic initiatives, forecasting, budgeting, and business performance analysis.
- Develop and implement cost models that accurately reflect the cost structures of various banking products, services, and business units, ensuring effective cost allocation and pricing strategies.
- Create scenario analysis, sensitivity models, and cost-benefit analysis to assess financial and cost performance under different assumptions.
- Analyze financial trends, cost variances, and key performance indicators (KPIs) to provide actionable insights for senior management.
Business Requirement Gathering:
- Collaborate with internal stakeholders (e.g., finance, operations, product teams) to define business requirements and translate them into technical specifications for financial and cost modeling.
- Conduct interviews, workshops, and surveys with business users to understand and document business needs, particularly in cost structure and pricing models.
Data Analysis & Reporting:
- Utilize advanced Excel functions (e.g., Pivot Tables, VLOOKUP, macros, Power Query) to analyze large datasets, particularly in relation to cost and financial performance, and create detailed reports.
- Generate regular and ad hoc financial reports, cost reports, dashboards, and presentations for senior management.
- Automate repetitive data processes related to financial and cost reporting to enhance reporting efficiency.
Strategic Decision Support:
- Provide financial and cost analysis support to key business decisions, including pricing strategies, investments, risk assessments, and performance evaluations.
- Present findings and insights to senior leadership and other stakeholders to facilitate decision-making.
- Project Management & Cross-functional Collaboration:
- Lead or contribute to key projects involving financial analysis, cost modeling, process improvements, and system upgrades.
- Work closely with cross-functional teams to ensure business objectives are met and project timelines are adhered to.
Continuous Improvement:
- Stay updated on the latest financial and cost modeling techniques, tools, and trends in the banking industry.
- Proactively identify opportunities for process improvement and optimization of financial and cost reporting systems.
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Business Administration, or a related field. A Master’s degree or professional certifications (e.g., CFA, CPA, FRM) is a plus.
- 5+ years of experience in business analysis, financial modeling, and cost modeling, or a similar role, preferably in the banking or financial services industry.
- Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel (e.g., advanced formulas, VBA, Power Query, Power Pivot, macros, data visualization) is required.
- Strong experience in building and maintaining financial models and cost models, including forecasting, budgeting, cost allocation, and scenario analysis.
- Solid understanding of banking products, services, and cost structures.
- Ability to analyze and interpret large sets of financial and operational data and translate them into actionable business insights.
- Proven track record of working with cross-functional teams and senior leadership to influence decision-making.
- Excellent communication and presentation skills, with the ability to translate complex financial and cost data into clear, concise reports.
Familiarity with financial modeling software or enterprise resource planning (ERP) systems.
